About Me

I began life after college (Emory University) by spending time with young children. Specifically, I was teaching toddlers. That adventure lasted for three and a half years. I loved it, but knew I needed more.

So, I went back to school to learn the graphics and printing trade. It was an excellent fit and, ultimately, I worked in that industry for over 20 years.

After my last layoff in 2013 I felt the need for change and enrolled in a six month course learning everything I could about entrepreneurial endeavors. As a result I learned how to start a SaSS (software as a service) business, but soon realized that was not for me. However, all that I had learned along the way served me well. I expanded my knowledge base to include newly created online applications such as Canva, Powtoons and Wix. I entered into the cultural phenomenon that is  social media and most importantly, created a network of hundreds of like-minded people across the globe.

My struggles with an eating disorder led me to create a recovery workbook, A Journey of Hope that is available for sale on Amazon. It isn't specifically written for eating disorders, but rather, anyone on a recovery journey.

This work called upon the new knowledge I'd acquired as well as the wealth of my experience in design and printing knowledge. It was a great fit! There were various business attempts along the way, but are not worth mentioning. Let's just say I kept myself busy constantly.

Fast forward to 2018 when a lack of funds, need for human interaction on a daily basis and a children's book that had been incubating for the past several years motivated me to call a former boss at the child care center I'd taught in years ago. The reconnection was a win/win for both of us. My boss loved my book and I began substituting at the center and six months later, I was once again hired full-time. I have been having the time of my life. The kids are wonderful, exhausting and challenging at times.

At long last I published my first children's book about feelings in 2019. Everybody Feels was a success within that community. I felt inspired and motivated. The series and concept of a three book series was born. Everyday Emotions followed in late 2019 and Accepting Emotions in 2020.

Personally, my goals are to inspire others, never stop learning and be comfortable with the unknown.

I enjoy connecting with people, sharing laughter, and helping others by giving of my time and talents. This allows me to embrace the ideal of living an authentic existence in whatever form that takes. I am a winter lover, I adore my feline four-legged friends and I'm a bit obsessed with Legos.

Working with others is relationship building. I take that to heart and thrive on it. My time with children as well as creating visuals on the computer fills my soul. If I can combine the two, all the better.

I guess I should have mentioned my writing work I've done along the way. That was just a natural fit as many have told me over the years that I should be a writer. So I did. I wrote. Feel free to contact me about any of my skills. I'm available for hire and look forward to connecting with you!
